A week or so back, Saint Patrick’s Park in Mid City had its first movie night. They showed The Wizard of Oz and plan to show the following films on the following nights: A Street car named Desire on 5-16-08; Casablanca on 5-17-08; Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory on 5-31-08; Chitty-Chitty Bang-Bang on 6-7-08 and there are a couple more listed. There’s one on my birthday, the 7th of July, and another on one of my friend’s birthdays so we both want to have part of our parties there. Anyway, it’s free to go and they have food and drinks so next time they hold a movie, why not come?

Lots of stuff has happened in the past week. First yesterday was my brother’s Birthday. We went to see BeoWulf in an I-max theater. The movie was great, but my dad said that they changed a lot of stuff in the original story and refused to tell me what so I’m gonna’ read it. And now, it’s Thanksgiving!!! We are going to celebrate everything tomorrow, on the 23rd. Today we also went to help our friend Keith clean up his backyard. So, that pretty much sums up what’s happened in the past week or so, so bye.

K-Ville is a TV pilot for a new series about a New Orleans cop who is trying to rebuild his life after Katrina. The star, Anthony Anderson, or as he’s known in the show, Marlin Boulet, lives at our neighbor’s Mike’s House (but not in real life.) This is both good and bad for us because they want to use our house for the show, so we get money, but we can’t get in their way at all or anything like that so it’s just really anoying. A few hours ago they were puting a bunch of fake debris in front of our house, were painting a fake flood line on all of the houses, and a bunch of other fake hollywood junk.

I just finished watching the movie Wizard of Oz for the 50th time. It is still one of my favorites. I don’t know why I like it so much, I just do. My favorite character is Toto because I like dogs and he is a very talented actor. My parents say that the witch and the flying monkeys used to scare them when they were young, but I don’t remember anytime when they scared me. I’ve never read the book Wizard of Oz, but one time we listened to it in the car on a long trip. I liked it very much. Also, the Barkus theme last year was based on the movie, and I was Dorothy.

I have read 2 more fascinating books that I still can’t get over. Eragon and the last book in the Series of Unfortunate Events, The End. Eragon is an amazing book and I cannot wait until I get my hands on the next book in the series, Eldest. A Series of Unfortunate Events has become one of my favorit series if not my favorite (its competeders being Eragon, Harry Potter, and The Chronicles of Narnia). While I am waiting to get my hands on Eldest I will be reading Tuck Everlasting which I will finish in 1 if not 2 days tops. There is also supposed to be an Eragon movie comming out in December. My original goal with these books was to finish Eragon by the time the movie came out but now I want to finish the second book in the series and if possible the third. I LOVE BOOKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally, after a lot of hard work, my dad and I were able to get my movie online about the rebuilding of New Orleans one year after Katrina. You can see it on YouTube, or a higher quality version can be seen at Think New Orleans. Thanks to Alan Gutierrez for hosting it.
My movie about the six month anniversary about Katrina is still on YouTube.

I’m making another movie about Katrina and this time it’s what life is like 1 year after Katrina through the eyes of an 11 year old girl. It is a bit longer than the last one and should be ready in a few days but it will take a while to get it online. So when it comes out, I hope that you like it.

There is an article about me and my 6 months after Katrina movie (called Kalypso’s New Orleans) in Psychology Today/MSN Health. It says that I was unconsciously using art to deal with trauma. The article is by Jessica Heasley, and there is a link to my movie at the end of the article. So far, YouTube says that 4,929 people have seen my movie. Thanks Jessica.

The Quicktime movie my dad made last week about 2 Kings 8, in which Hazael takes the throne of Aram, can be seen here. I play the role of Hazael, and my friend Madeleine plays the role of Elisha.
