Graceland

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

kk, this happened ALONG time ago, but i enjoyed it so much that i want to post it anyways… On our way to the suprise party/family reunion my family stopped in graceland, tennesy, the home of the great King of rock and roll, Elvis Presly. We went to his mansion and took the tour. His home was really kick ass, but it was still pretty laid back. Nothing like all of the millionaires/billionaires today that go off to these luxurious islands and buy multi million dollar homes with like 47,000 acres of property and all of that crap. (Sorta like i plan to do… -_-;) Anyways, after the tour, we went to the gift shop and bought a whole lot of overpriced crap, but it’s elvis crap, so it’s all good. I got TCB earrings and a cool belt. We also got bumper stickers and Mike got a T-shirt and more stuff like that. Also, my Abu and I got into an argument over whether or not I had been there before. I say that on my first trip to our great city, when we were bringing all of out furniture from Omaha to our new apartment, we stopped at the mansion. Mike says no, and this was my first time here. So, whatever that does. If any family member somehow has information about the subject, I am making a request that you help us solve this. (Unless said information helps Michael, then you can keep it to your self and no one the wiser, right?) So, thats about it…

Exams

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

The Math and English Exams were combined into one project. We had to make a children’s story book. Within the book, we had to include three math problems that would somehow help the story move along. For example, “Jenny has three nickels and 2 dimes. She found out that she has $0.33. That was just enough to buy the pineapple…” Except for our problems had to be a bit more complex. The science and social studies exams are going to be easy, as far as I can tell. (don’t tell Mr. Bravo I said that) I finished the book before it was due and turned it in for extra credit. All that is left are the french exam and the music exam, the two that i am most worried about. For french, we just have to take an exam, but for once, I think I’ll actually need to study O_o, I know, right… But the professions confuse the hell outta me, so there’s not much I can do about it. For the music class, we have to audition to get into the CA next year. (CA = certificate of artistry) Im not worried that I won’t make it, it’s just that I have to stand up and do a solo in front of judges. I wouldn’t mind, were it not for the whole solo thing… well, not much I can do about this one either.

Rush Concert

Monday, April 21st, 2008

Last night at the Hornet’s arena, I went with my dad, and Adrastos and his wife Dr. A to a Rush concert. It was awesome!! The music was amazing, especially to have been performed by such a small band. The vocalist, Geddy Lee, has an.. um… I guess ‘interesting’ would be the word to describe his singing voice. Not that he has a bad one, it’s much better than mine. But it’s definitely interesting. And then Neil Peart, on drums, well, yah. God, that guy is amazing! Alex was great on guitar also. The lights were phenomenal, shooting out from all different angles of the arena, with tons of smoke and various displays of fire and explosions. We also had wonderful seating, being only two rows away from what would be the court. The three members of the band are supposed to be extremely bright, which for whatever reason, seems to be the usual case for people who, in their youth, were in the punk/goth clicks, or whatever they’re called now.

Omaha Band Reunion

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008

(wow… i haven’t blogged in a long time) Over spring break, my family and I went up to Omaha, Nebraska. The reason was one: visiting family and two: my dad was having a punk rock band reunion. In case you don’t know, my father was in a punk rock band ‘back in the day’. Their name was Apathy and the band consisted of Seth Kirshman (singer), Mark Blackman (drummer), (my uncle) Jim Homan (guitarist), and my personal favorite, (my very own father) Michael Homan (bassist). The band was pretty well known and CDs were sold over seas. My brother and I were able to attend the concert and thought the whole thing was pretty cool. Although, it was sort of strange to see middle aged men jumping up and down and playing punk music on stage. But, being sort of into the whole punk thing myself, I enjoyed the whole event. My dad’s band was the best by far and you can see a video of the whole thing here:

This is a picture of the band on stage taken by my mom, Therese Fitzpatrick:

Bruce Springsteen

Tuesday, May 16th, 2006

In my last blog I said that Bruce Springsteen had played at Jazz Fest and, now about 3 weeks after the preformance, adults here are still talking about it and will be for a long time. People cried as he performed and it was such a magical thing that people who have gone to performances for a lllooonnnggg time say that they have never seen or heard the like. :) Personally, I thought that it was totally awesome. My favorite part of the performance was when he sang “When the Saints Go Marching In.” He sang it very sad and somber and he sang a verse that nobody in my family had heard before. Thanks Bruce.
