Summer Video Games

Sunday, June 29th, 2008

It’s summer, and summer tends to be a time when people seem to often be left with little or nothing to do. So, they start falling into a vast and unwanted abyss that I have come to call boredom. In order to pull yourself out of that abyss, you have to find a good source of entertainment. For some people it could be reading. For others it could be drawing. I enjoy doing both of the above but something that gives me even more pleasure is playing video games. So, I have been playing on our Wii alot lately. We just got some new games for the system and they are Super Mario Cart and Mario Galaxy. Both are fantastic games. The Mario Cart is really fun because you can buy this wheel and put your wiimote in it and then drive using the wheel. Within the races of the game there are various traps and other things which you have to avoid, so the whole thing is really fun. And Mario Galaxy is also a really grate game. I have always loved adventure games that go on for just about ever. Like Zelda. The game is played in outer-space, and you travel around all of these mini planets, attempting to save princess peach. She has been captured by Bowser, and if you have previously played any of the mario games, this information isn’t going to surprise you. The company always finds a way to bring in stars, coins, mushrooms, toads, peaches, and giant fiery turtle dinosaurs. And the plot is always the same. This tends to happen alot in Zelda, and now that I think about it, every other adventure game that has a sequal. Hmmm… Ah, well, I guess if the first game works, it’ll all be OK in the end.

Kung Fu Panda

A few days ago, I went to see Kung Fu Panda at the AMC Palace. The movie, was ok, around the level of what I expected it to be. I didn’t think it to be very clever in that the jokes weren’t well thought out and that the plot line was the pretty much the same as every other movie that’s being made, but, I guess it wasn’t to bad. So, later my friends called and asked me if I wanted to see the Love Guru. I accepted their offer and was glad to see that I thought more of this movie than the last. So, the basic plot of Panda, if you don’t already know is that a clumsy Panda named ‘Po’, is chosen as the dragon warrior and must thus defeat the evil lord blah blah to save the valley and bring yada yada… well, you know. While watching, I kept thinking about how well Jack Black was doing the voice, and how much emotion he was pulling out. I wonder what it’s like, sitting in a studio, screaming lines into a mike. What goes on in ones head while all of this is going on. So, The Love Guru is sorta hard to explain but I recommend seeing it. Comment if you know of any other good movies that are worth watching.

Bro

So… I’m now getting some competition in this whole blogging world. My brother, Gilgamesh, now has his own blog and is getting quite a few readers. I hate to admit it but it’s possible that he’s getting more readers than I am. His most recent post, covering a certain event that took place in our local swimming pool, has made his site quite popular. So, I know I have said this before, but I really do plan to post a lot more often. So, things should be getting a lot more interesting around here…

My Summer 2008

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

Well, so far, the wonderful season of summer hasn’t been quite as boring as I had expected it to be. But boring is good at times. I have lots of programs and camps that I’m going to so I always tend to be doing something. I’m going to a swimming program with practice on mondays, tuesdays, and thursdays, with meets every wednesday. I have sewing class on saturdays and next week, I’m going to have music lessons on every day except for saturday and sunday. When I’m not doing camp stuff, I generally work for my mom, helping her at her job for 5 dollars an hour. I’m not really short on money (for a kid), but it’s still nice to have. I also exercise in the evenings, and have parties with my friends at least once a week. And tomorrow is Friday the 13th!! In my opinion, it’s one of the best days of the year, second only to christmas. Me and a few people I know are trying to plan something for that. Speaking of the number 13, I shall have achieved that many years of life on the nineteenth of next month. Wonder what to do for a party… well, I have time ^_^.
