Graceland

May 19th, 2009

kk, this happened ALONG time ago, but i enjoyed it so much that i want to post it anyways… On our way to the suprise party/family reunion my family stopped in graceland, tennesy, the home of the great King of rock and roll, Elvis Presly. We went to his mansion and took the tour. His home was really kick ass, but it was still pretty laid back. Nothing like all of the millionaires/billionaires today that go off to these luxurious islands and buy multi million dollar homes with like 47,000 acres of property and all of that crap. (Sorta like i plan to do… -_-;) Anyways, after the tour, we went to the gift shop and bought a whole lot of overpriced crap, but it’s elvis crap, so it’s all good. I got TCB earrings and a cool belt. We also got bumper stickers and Mike got a T-shirt and more stuff like that. Also, my Abu and I got into an argument over whether or not I had been there before. I say that on my first trip to our great city, when we were bringing all of out furniture from Omaha to our new apartment, we stopped at the mansion. Mike says no, and this was my first time here. So, whatever that does. If any family member somehow has information about the subject, I am making a request that you help us solve this. (Unless said information helps Michael, then you can keep it to your self and no one the wiser, right?) So, thats about it…

Exams

March 10th, 2009

The Math and English Exams were combined into one project. We had to make a children’s story book. Within the book, we had to include three math problems that would somehow help the story move along. For example, “Jenny has three nickels and 2 dimes. She found out that she has $0.33. That was just enough to buy the pineapple…” Except for our problems had to be a bit more complex. The science and social studies exams are going to be easy, as far as I can tell. (don’t tell Mr. Bravo I said that) I finished the book before it was due and turned it in for extra credit. All that is left are the french exam and the music exam, the two that i am most worried about. For french, we just have to take an exam, but for once, I think I’ll actually need to study O_o, I know, right… But the professions confuse the hell outta me, so there’s not much I can do about it. For the music class, we have to audition to get into the CA next year. (CA = certificate of artistry) Im not worried that I won’t make it, it’s just that I have to stand up and do a solo in front of judges. I wouldn’t mind, were it not for the whole solo thing… well, not much I can do about this one either.

Mardi Gras Day

March 2nd, 2009

A while before the day, my aunt, Poncho, came down. Two of our friends, Mark and Jackie, also came down. They all made the event much more enjoyable ^_^, despite the fact that I was sick for the entire time (DX why?!?) So, that day, we went to Keith’s house and then headed down to the quarter. We caught the last of the saint anne parade and saw some amazing costumes! My dad says that the event was very inspirational, and I have to agree. So, more time at the sowing machine for me! After, we went through the quarter, and headed home… that was about it… if you want to see some cool photos, I recommend going to my dad’s flickr account. Just go to www.flickr.com and search his name. Thats about it…

Krewe du Viewx

February 18th, 2009

My parents were in this years parade. That was a bit weird, as anyone would know if they’ve actually seen the parade. They were in the group called Seeds of Decline and their theme was ‘Fannie Mae Goes Down’ Here they are, dressed as Mr. Monopoly and Fannie Mae:

And here was the float:

The whole thing was cool though, and I’m glad that I was still able to go, all thanks to my wonderful god father.

And because it was the 1st of the month the last time I posted and is now the 18th, I suppose that if I am to follow through with my new years resolution, I have some running to do.

Mardi Gras Marathon

February 1st, 2009

Ok… Im not gonna lie to you… I didn’t run the whole marathon. I only did the half. But my time was great! I got under 30 minutes!

Alright, so I’m still lying to you. I did the 5K with my mom, but I actually wanted to do the half. She had signed up by the time I had the knowledge to do anything about it. The previous time I mentioned was accurate, though… I guess its not bad for not having run anything close to a mile in months… And i didn’t walk at any point during the entire thing. My mom was about one and a half minutes behind me. We plan to run the half marathon next year, and we will try to run the whole thing the year after that. Just being able to say that I ran a marathon at the age of 15 is a very appealing thought…

Obama

January 26th, 2009

I was in Atlanta during the inauguration speech. My father was supposed to give a leachture later that night. He had been invited to give the beer lecture for Emory. So, before I continue to talk about the speech and all else that I can fit in here, let me state my opinion on a few things… *clears throat* GEAX BAMA!!!!!!! YA!! *does a dance* Okay, now that thats over with, lets get to the point. His speeches were all amazing. From the Presidential Acceptance speech (we took notes on this in English class (<3 you Ms. Gray!!!) to the Democratic Nominee Acceptance speech to the speech he gave before election night, everything has been amazing! Like, the way he uses the english language, the way he makes it flow is great! (thats why we studied it in english class, because of all of the literary devices ^_^) so, i am infinitely happy that bush is finally out of office and the country might actually be heading in the right direction for once… or we will be once we get out of the recession.

And, the other than that, today is my dads birthday!! Happy birthday Abu! XD
One more side note; it has been six days since my last blog, so i dont have to run… even though i probably should… i guess ill try to be happy about getting off the hook…?

Cats

January 20th, 2009

Ignore the title. Its more like… ‘My Delayed New Years Resolution.’ I just like cats, so thats the title. If you dont like it then too bad. Deal with it.

Resolution #1: Eat more chocolate…
Resolution #2: Blog more… i think that for every week that i dont blog at least twice, i will have to run a mile for every day that i did not blog… (this is nice because if the world cant be in touch with me, at least i can be in touch with the world… or at least the streets of my neighborhood… + it gets me exercise)
Resolution #3: more art! Seriously, I keep on going on about how Im going to draw and sew and paint but nothing has come! Im sick and tiered of my lazy ass! Up until now, I keep on giving the excuse of ‘not having the materials,’ but i wont have any more of it! so, you will hopefully see more of that posted on here through verious photos and whatnot…

and god, i seriously need to go to a grammar school! to much im’ing does that…

Raising the Homan House (revised)

So, we made this video a while ago. It had a lead belly song in it, and because of it… well, its all described in the video… so enjoy! ^_^

8th grade

October 15th, 2008

So, school’s started and everything is going fine. I like most of the people there, when it comes to teachers. All of my friends are fawesome and all of the academic crap is easier than hell (in fact, everything is so easy that it’s hard to concentrate, so I often find myself slipping off into lala land :P.) So, here are my school photo’s:
KalypsoSchoolPic2008
They admin makes all of the students wear these things on laminated ID’s. The photographer peoples who take the photo’s aren’t the greatest in the world. So, instead of just wearing them, some student’s ‘deface’ their ID’s, but then the admin banned that to. If you are caught not wearing your ID or with one that’s been totally dilapidated (random note – that that word makes me think of a duck bill. Sorry, just had to put that in), then the teachers can give you a lunch detention. So anyways, I have the normal classes:
Algebra 1 (boring & monotonous)
English 1 (’tis grate! Love the teacher + were reading stuff like ‘The Odyssey’ & Daphne du Maurier’s ‘The Birds’)
Earth Science (teacher’s not all that wonderful… doesn’t have great conversation skills and talks way to much.)
Louisiana History (beautiful. Teacher is definitely cool, but how could you not love LA history?)
And my elective:
French 2 (Vive la France! La class est super!)
CA Prep Strings (Basically, I’m in the school orchestra. Surprisingly, we don’t sound like thousands of flee-ridden alley cats being dipped in acid and then thrown into a spiked pit and then… eh, well, I could go on, but you probably have better things to do. So, basicly, unlike other school orchestras, we actually sound good. We can play things like Brandenburg Concerto No. 1, Pachelbel’s Cannon, and Orpheus in the Underworld, more commonly knows as ‘The Cancan.’)
With all of the classes I’m taking, I think that I will enter high school with five credits… Yah ^_^. An’ such is my current school related life.

While re-reading this, I realized how stupid and ‘high-school-girlish’ I sound. *sigh* Oh well. Not much I can do about that, unless I wanted to go back an rewrite the entire thing, and anyone who knows me would agree that I am much to slothy to do such things… : (
